I never imagined myself as a published author. Growing up, I was an avid reader but not particularly fond of writing. Fast forward to adulthood, and now here I am – the proud owner of a book contract from Indigo River Publishing! It all started with the idea that wouldn’t go away…
“I’m looking forward to continuing my journey as an author and seeing where it takes me.”
When I first held my book in my hands, so many emotions were racing through me that it felt like they would consume me – excitement, joy, and a little bit of fear all at once. But, most of all, I felt proud because this has been something I’ve worked hard for… It still hasn’t fully sunken in yet, but it is such a thrilling feeling knowing that people can now read what I wrote and see my name on the cover… so exciting… breathtaking, honestly.
So maybe I’m not feeling very humble at the moment… but I am a big believer in celebrating life’s successes!
My Journey to Getting Published
Becoming a published author has been more complicated than I expected. After signing the contract, there was so much to think about – coordinating with editors, creating a book cover, and marketing strategy – it can be overwhelming if you don’t know what you are doing! Thankfully, my publisher supported me through this process and answered my questions.
At first, I was very nervous… I was keenly aware of the state of book publishing… not precisely the ideal time to become an author; nonetheless, this was what I wanted.
I have already seen positive reviews from readers who enjoy reading about characters inspired by real-life experiences, making publishing even more meaningful for me – someone likes what you put into this vast universe called literature; somebody appreciates your work enough to give feedback or recommend it.
I wanted my journey and book to be as authentic as possible, which meant taking on the whole process myself. From editing every last detail (multiple times) down to designing a logo for each chapter’s beginning page – all of these elements went into making sure everything looked perfect before launching my novel out into the world.
It’s been an incredible journey to become a published author. After years of hard work, I can proudly say that my book is now available in stores and online! It’s such a fantastic feeling to see your name on the spine of a book and know that all your effort has paid off!
I’m grateful for the entire experience and wouldn’t trade it for anything.
When I told my friends and family that I had become a published author, there was an overwhelming sense of pride and joy. Everyone was so supportive, and it meant the world to me that they were happy for me.
It’s been a steep learning curve
It’s also been a great learning experience to understand how the publishing process works and what it takes to get your book into the world.
I thought sharing my life as a newly published author would be fun. So, I hope this post helps inspire other writers and authors to pursue their dreams!
Ultimately, I hope my book will resonate with readers, and they can find something to relate to. It is a humbling experience knowing that people are reading your work, thinking about your words, and forming opinions about it… inspiring to me.
